Metalman Race Team

MetalMan Motorsport is a team of two teams. One team run the GTR in Targa and one team run the race circuits with the Escort and NZV8 and now the F5000 racing a very rare car the March 73A .

Kelvin Gray and Mike Browning  are the guys that work on both cars.

Metal Man Motorsport also assists many other drivers in their threads of motorsport and there will not be many forms of motor sport in New Zealand  that has no Metalman involvement.

Clark Proctor the founder and Director of Metalman is the Metalman he is the driver in most cases and is the driving force of the team,

The main action has been in NZV8s for many years and Targa. With the GT2 and now F500 being the current projects.

Tony Callihan has been the co-driver in the Targa car and Kelvin Gray the engineer. Mike Browning has been on the car as the mechanic..

Dodson’s motorsport has been partnering in the GTR project .

The Nissan Escort in GT2  is the latest project and this iconic car has to be the worlds fastest Escort.    The Escort has been around for many years but Kelvin Gray from GRD engineering gave it a major rebuild in 2009 and with his exceptional skills has managed to build a highly competent race car that is ultra reliable and can show some of the fastest V8s and thing or two.

The Escort can do a lap of Pukekohe 1 second faster that the fastest Muscle car in the hands of Clark Proctor. The Escort is run buy the regular team of Kelvin Gray , Mike Browning. Ido Lelie who is the IT guy and understands the telemetry and crunches all the data and Lance Preston on tires and fuel.

The latest project is to race the Formula 5000 in the Amon series  at Hampton Downs over the last two weekends of January. ,Clark has purchased  a 1973 March 73a to let the team put the skills to the test  and see what they can do with it. Once again Kelvin Gray from GRD engineering has put his skills to the test to do what he can in only a couple of weeks to produce a reliable and fast race car. Clark has only done a few laps in the car and has already put in a very respectable time around Hampton.

MetalMan Motorsport is growing all the time and the next generation of race drivers is in the making with Clarks son Jack showing early promise in the Go Cart. Jack is starting where most great drivers start and is going well. Jack has been around Motor sport all his life and is a name to watch in the future.

We will attempt to keep you up to date with what the team is up to and if you see the distinctive Metalman cars out and about at the tracks or events stop in and say hi , the team is always willing to show you the cars and set up
